It's that time of the year when a lot of networks are running football themed movies. Whenever the Super Bowl is within shouting distance, the powers-to-be decide to pull out the films that will touch the heartstrings of the pigskin purveyors. 

Ranker.com came out with a list of the best football movies ever.  9,000 votes in the books and the people's number one flick was Remember The Titans. The movies is based on the true story of African American coach Herman Boone portrayed by Denzel Washington, and follows Coach Boone as he tries to introduce a racially diverse team at the T. C. Williams High School in the Northern Virginia city of Alexandria in 1971.

The movie most listed was Rudy.  It is an account of the life of Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger, who always dreamed of playing football at the University of Notre Dame despite significant obstacles. It starred Vince Vaughn and Sean Astin.

Number three is The Blind Side starring Sandra Bullock, Lily Collins, Kathy Bates and Tim McGraw.

Rounding out the top five is We Are Marshall at number four and number five is the 1971 classic, Brian's Song.
