For around a year now, I've been producing and hosting the Red Dirt Music Hour, sponsored by Daisy Dukes & Cowboy Boots.  The show airs each Saturday at 6 p.m.  I keep getting the same question: what is "Red Dirt" music?  The answer is pretty simple.

Red Dirt music is music from Texas and Oklahoma where the dirt is red.  It is sometimes referred to as "Outlaw Country." Texas actually has their on chart known as the Texas Regional Radio Report. (TRR)

The music is raw.  A lot of the time it is written by the same people that are performing it.  So the emotions are real for that artist.  Thanks to the internet, the regional artists are branching out and gaining listeners from all over the globe regardless of what is being played on mainstream country radio.

In the year that I've been doing the Red Dirt Music Hour, I've found some songs that I really enjoy.  Hopefully you will too.  Below is JB & The Moonshine Band and their current TRR number 1 hit "Beer For Breakfast."  Hope you enjoy it and that you'll join us each Saturday night at 6 p.m. for the Dukes & Boots Red Dirt Music Hour on KIX 105.7
