I have many fond memories of cereals that I loved as a kid: Crunch Berries, Super Golden Crisp, Honey Nut Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Frosted Flakes, Lucky Charms and of course, Rice Krispies. These were some of the mainstays in my house growing up. However, have you ever tried eating something as an adult that you enjoyed as a child and then thought, "How in the world did I love that?"

That happened to me, sadly, with Fruity Pebbles. I loved the sweet taste of the Fruity Pebbles and could probably finish a box in a matter of a few days as a kid. The other day, I was going down the aisles and thought, "This would be good to try and share it with my kids."

The next morning, I couldn't wait to open the box and pour the milk over it. I dug in with the spoon and tasted it, hoping to flash back to my youth with the first taste. After a few spoonfuls, it just didn't seem as sweet. The box now advertises 11 essential vitamins and minerals, so maybe the sugar content changed, or maybe it was just my taste buds.

My kids tried it and they liked it. I can say I gave it one more try, this time without the milk, and it appears the sweetness I enjoyed as a kid was still there, so I think I'll give it another try, especially after seeing the smiles on my kids' faces. I think I'll at least watch some of the Flintstones again.

What foods did you enjoy as a kid that you can't eat now? I'd like to know.
