Every year, we see lots of different events to help different charities. Some of them are dinners, some of them are sales, and some of them are walks. One of the longstanding traditions in our area is a distinctive walk - the Walk to End Alzheimer's. Walk to End Alzheimer’s unites the entire community — family, friends, co-workers, social and religious groups and more --- in a display of combined strength and dedication in the fight against this devastating disease. While there is no fee to register, each participant is expected to fundraise in order to contribute to the cause and raise awareness. Join the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's and unite in a movement to reclaim the future for millions. Since 1989, they've mobilized millions of Americans in the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk; now, now ask you to register for Walk to End Alzheimer's, the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease the nation's sixth-leading cause of death.  Our local Walk is coming up on September 6th; I got to talk with Linda Fischer and Sheila Ream the gang about how you can help this deserving cause.

Sedalia area residents are invited to take the first step to a world without Alzheimer’s disease by participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, September 6, at the Missouri State Fairgrounds-Highway Gardens in Sedalia.  There are two ways to sign-up – online or at the event. Online registration is now open and event registration begins at 8:30 am on Sept. 6, followed by the Opening Ceremony/Walk at 10:00 am. The planning committee hopes to raise $34,000 at this year’s event. Walkers can start a team or join a team, or just come Walk with their family and friends. There is no fee to register, but donations are appreciated.
