The experience known as social painting is seeing explosive growth in cities across the country as people seek to imbibe and relax while rediscovering their creative side.

Not an artist? Join the club. The crowds include couples on dates, co-ed group outings, bachelorette parties and the simply curious. Yet something clearly resonates.  There's a new locale in Downtown Sedalia for your inner Van Gogh.

The Painting Parlor hosts fun and trendy social painting classes.  Under the direction of a local artist, you and your friends will create your own masterpiece, all the while enjoying your favorite beverages, snacks and conversation. Here's how it works. The day of your event, bring your cooler with your favorite beverages and snacks, they will provide the canvas, apron, brushes and paint.  During your event, the artist/instructor will walk you through creating your painting - which you will take home at the end of your event. You do not need to be an artist to create your own painting and will have fun with your friends and family creating it.  It's just a  social night out with friends while sipping cocktails, listening to great music & painting.

It's simple and fun! No experience necessary and beginners are encouraged! I got to speak with Kathy Rosenboom, of the Painting Parlor, about their next event and how you can get artistical with 'em.

They're doing their next painting parties in early February. So why not give em a call at (573) 690-7699, stop by the place at 314 S. Ohio, or check them out on the web.

Artistically yours,
Behka
