In a press event that took place Jan. 6 in North Kansas City, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon announced the University of Central Missouri will receive a $350,000 grant in support of The Missouri Innovation Campus (MIC) initiative and a $100,000 grant to support competency-based education, which also will be applied toward efforts at The MIC.

The grants announced by the governor are made possible through the national non-profit organization, USA Funds, which in 2014 selected Missouri to receive a $1 million grant to expand the state’s Innovation Campus initiative.

The eighth-ranked Mules escaped with a 63-60 win on Monday night at Lee Arena. The Central Missouri Mules dropped nine spots to No. 17 in the latest NABC Division II Men's Basketball Poll released on Tuesday afternoon. The Mules fell to Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday  night in their first game of 2015. The win over Washburn on Monday night is not included in the rankings.  The Mules return to action on Thursday night when they host Pittsburg State in the first home game of 2015. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Multi. 

The Jennies extended their win streak to four games, upsetting No. 8 Washburn, 64-61 in the final minute at Lee Arena on Monday night.  The Jennies will go for their fifth straight win against No. 5 Pittsburg State on Thursday, January 8 for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off in Warrensburg.
