Tackling the problem of creating human-powered transportation for use on Mars brought a group of students from the University of Central Missouri School of Technology together as a team to compete in the NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center at Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville, Ala., April 17-18.

The UCM team competed against 95 student teams from high schools, colleges and universities across 18 states and Puerto Rico, as well as international teams from Germany, India, Mexico and Russia. Awards were presented to teams posting the fastest vehicle assembly and race times in their divisions with the fewest on-course time penalties.

After dedicating nearly 25 years to teaching and serving in administrative capacities in the University of Central Missouri’s Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies, Kim Andrews, Ph.D., is taking on a new position. Effective July 1, she will become vice provost for academic programs and services at UCM.  Andrews’ appointment was announced today by Deborah Curtis, provost-chief learning officer, following a search process to fill a post that has been served by Mike Grelle, who is retiring.

The Jennies offense was stifled for six innings before they tried to stage a late rally that ultimately came up short in a 4-1 loss to Adelphi in the Division II Softball Championship opener for both teams. The Jennies now drop in to the loser's bracket of the tournament and will face California (Pa.) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in an elimination game.

Two National Champions and five All-Americans were crowned on day one of the NCAA Track Championships for Central Missouri.  The Jennies jumped out scoring 29 points to lead all teams on the opening day as look to defend their indoor championship.
