The University of Central Missouri family mourns the loss of Dylan Austin, a student from Independence who passed away April 25 as the result of a skateboarding accident in Warrensburg. While university members continue to keep his family in their thoughts and prayers, memorial services are planned at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, Friday, May 1.

Dylan Austin’s family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., followed by the service. UCM also plans to celebrate his life with a memorial event at 4 p.m. Monday, May 4 at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center.

Central Missouri entered the MIAA tournament as the No. 1 seed and looked the part, on their way to wins in the opening two rounds in Overland Park, Kan. The Jennies defeated Fort Hays State 5-3 in the opening round before picking up their second win against Northwest Missouri, 4-1.  The two wins give the Jennies (41-13) their first 40-win season since 1995. 

Eight Jennies were named All-MIAA by the conference earlier this afternoon at the MIAA Tournament in Overland Park, Kan. Also honored was Head Coach Susan Anderson as the MIAA Coach of the Year.

Derek Cornell drove in five runs and the Mules scored 10 runs on 12 hits en route to a 10-5 win over Nebraska-Kearney at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field on Thursday in the opening game of their best-of-three MIAA Tournament first round series.

Central Missouri sophomore golfer Kelly Welker was named to the All-MIAA Women's Golf Honorable Mention Team as announced by the league offices on Thursday morning. This is the second All-MIAA honor of her career and the second all-conference accolade for the Jennies Golf program.
