A team of three University of Central Missouri finance students from UCM’s Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies recently participated in the local CFA Institute Research Challenge in Kansas City.

Sponsored by the CFA Society Kansas City, the competition challenges teams of students from area universities to match equity analysis and presentation skills as they prepare their investment recommendation and supporting analysis of the subject company for the local challenge as if they are practicing analysts.

Representing UCM in the competition was a team was comprised of Pat King, an MBA graduate student with a finance concentration; Dan Tacchi, a senior who graduated in December with finance major and continued working with the team; and Roland Smith, a junior with a double major in economics and mathematics and a minor in finance. Also working with the team for a portion of the preparation period was Kellen Heusinger, a senior finance major. The UCM team competed against teams from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, University of Missouri, Kansas State University, Missouri State University and Pittsburg State University.

The Mules baseball team has altered their weekend schedule at Southwest Baptist due to forecasted rain. The teams were slated to play a four-game series beginning on Thursday and ending on Saturday.  The teams will now play a doubleheader on Thursday beginning at 1 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday also beginning at 1 p.m. The teams will not play on Friday due to an 80 percent chance of rain in Bolivar.

The Central Missouri Mules basketball team  dropped two spots this week to No. 20 in the NABC Division II Men's Basketball Poll released on Tuesday afternoon. The Mules will open NCAA-II Central Region play as the No. 3 seed on Saturday at noon.
