Journey inside two South Carolina elementary schools, and see how one small town is making significant strides in educating students. The Peabody Award-winning PBS documentary, “180 Days: Hartsville,”premieres on KMOS-TV in March. Airing of this program on the University of Central Missouri’s public television station is in addition to opportunities for parents and Missouri educators to attend free pre-screening events and panel discussions in Warrensburg, Feb. 18; Jefferson City, March 2; and Columbia, March 5.

At a time when the nation is experiencing the greatest number of cases since measles elimination was documented in 2000, the University of Central Missouri Health Center is taking proactive steps to reduce the risk of infection by offering special vaccination dates for faculty, staff and students.  The University Health Center will provide MMR vaccine on a walk-in basis 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27 on the UCM Warrensburg campus. Individuals requesting vaccination should bring their insurance card and their shot records if they have them available. Appointments for the vaccine also can be made by calling 660-543-4770. The cost of the vaccine without insurance is $80.

Central Missouri finished fifth as a team with 28 points as the Mules played host to the MIAA Wrestling Championships on Sunday at the Multipurpose Building. Archie Williams claimed the individual championship at 174 pounds, while De'Quence Goodman took third at 285 pounds.

The Central Missouri softball team swept their two games Saturday over Illinois Springfield and William Jewell, evening their record to 2-2. Because of incliment weather, Sunday's games against East Central and Quincy were cancelled. 

A strong defensive effor led 19th-ranked Central Missouri to a 58-53 win over Lindenwood on Saturday afternoon at the UCM Multipurpose Building. The Mules held the Lions to just six made field goals in the first half and to 41 percent shooting for the game.

Looking to keep pace with the top four teams in the MIAA, the Jennies cruised to a 72-55 win over visiting Lindenwood to run their win streak to four games on Saturday afternoon.

The 22nd-ranked Mules Baseball team got a strong pitching performance from Jake Heissler and held off Lincoln 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at Goodheart Field. The Mules improve to 4-3 overall with the win.
