University of Central Missouri alumna Linda Glasgow, a third grade teacher at Nowlin Elementary School in the Blue Springs School District, has been named the 2015 Missouri Teacher of the Year by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.  Glasgow received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1980 and a Master of Science in Education in K-12 Mental Retardation in 1990 from UCM.  She will be honored, along with the additional five finalists, at a banquet Oct. 26. The statewide honor will make Glasgow the Missouri’s representative for the National Teacher of the Year competition.

For the first time in program history the Jennies Soccer team has earned a No. 1 national ranking. The Jennies moved up one spot from last week to take over the top spot in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll released on Tuesday afternoon.  The Jennies (6-0) went 2-0 last week with a 7-0 home win over Lindenwood on Friday night and a 6-1 win at Northwest Missouri on Sunday. The Jennies have out-scored the opposition 29-2 through the first six games.

Playing the course that will host next spring's NCAA Division II National Tournament, the fifth-ranked Mules Golf team came in fifth place out of 22 teams at the Division II National Preview at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club. The field of 22 teams featured eight teams ranked in GCAA Top 25 Poll and an additional four teams that are receiving votes in the poll.

The Mules look to rebound Saturday from their 34-30 loss to NW Missouri when they travel to Kearney, Nebraska to take on the Lopers of UNK at 3 p.m. at Cope Stadium at Foster Field.

Jennies volleyball remained in the No. 6 spot in third week of the AVCA Coaches Poll. UCM went 4-0 on the week with a nonconference win over Missouri S&T and went 3-0 at the MIAA/GAC Regional Crossover, defeating three schools from the Great American Conference. The four wins ups the Jens record to 12-1 on the season.
