The Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri members competed for the highest honor the Club bestows, on Thursday evening at State Fair Community College. The event to be named the 'Youth of the Year' included sixteen nominees, who participated in the event, but only three winners could be named, There were winners in three categories, elementary, junior, and teen.

The event is the Club's premier youth recognition program, recognizing outstanding contributions to a member’s family, school community, and Club, as well as personal challenges and obstacles they have overcome.

Olivia Harrison was the elementary winner. Arianna Ewert was the junior winner, and Jake Rogers won in the teen category. According to a press release from the Boys and Girls Club, the three participants showed the panel of judges not only why they were deserving of the prestigious title, but what the Boys & Girls Club meant to them.

Jake, the teen winner, will now go on to compete at the State Youth of the Year competition, to be held in April, in Jefferson City.
