Thomas Rhett mulls over how topsy-turvy life has been for him over the last few years in his new song "Life Changes," but he "wouldn't change it for the world."

Rhett is a college kid "majoring in undecided" in the first verse of the title track from his forthcoming third studio album, which marries a pop melody to an almost post-modern doo wop groove for a feel-good track. But change is coming fast to this young man, who sees his music become more popular over the course of a few years than he ever dreamed.

"Ain't it funny how life changes / You wake up ain't nothing the same / Life changes / You can't stop it, just hop on the train / You never know what's gonna happen / You make your plans and you hear God laughing / Life changes, and I wouldn't change it for the world," Rhett sings in the chorus of "Life Changes."

The burgeoning superstar talks about how everyone thought he and his wife Lauren were too young to marry in the second verse, musing how she now has an online following of her very own due to their visibility. You can also picture him shaking his head in wonder during the third verse as he details how he and Lauren decided to adopt their daughter Willa Gray from Uganda -- only to find out that she was also pregnant with their first biological child.

Thomas Rhett Shares How Family Inspired New Song, "Life Changes"

The couple welcomed their second daughter, Ada James Akins, on Aug. 12. Rhett says the changes in his life since having a family are the inspiration for "Life Changes," as well as other upcoming songs.

"It’s kind of about my daughter and it’s kinda about a lot of things," Rhett tells Taste of Country. "Basically it goes from me being in college to me being here now and how drastically my life has changed in the last five or six years. And Willa being a huge part of that."

Rhett has some down time with his new family before he releases Life Changes on Sept. 8. The album’s first single, “Craving You,” is a duet with Maren Morris that already hit No. 1, and Rhett recently released the second single from the album, “Unforgettable.” He’s been on the road on his headlining Home Team Tour for much of this summer.
