I'll admit it. I might be guilty of a couple of these. Maybe even most of them. OfficeTeam has done a new survey that has found that many of us are just plain bored while we're on the job. Reasons include not feeling challenged by assignments, there isn't enough work to do (where is that?), and the work just not being interesting to begin with. Some workers find some pretty funny things to do to help combat their boredom.

  • "Have rubber band battles with coworkers"
  • "Make grocery lists and cut coupons"
  • "Learn another language"
  • "Do crossword puzzles"
  • "Play ping pong"
  • "Doodle"
  • "Make videos"
  • "Pay bills"
  • "Watch TV or movies online"
  • "Work on the book I'm writing"
  • "Play online games"
  • "Daydream"
  • "Act like I'm interested in the work and meetings"
  • "Clean my desk"
  • "Ask for more work"
  • "Look for other jobs"

I would love to say that I was doing something like learning another language or cleaning up my desk, but those aren't really the ones I'm guilty of. It is possible that I've looked for other jobs while on the clock (but not at this job).

How many of these have you done? What do you do at work when you're looking to kill time that is not on the list?
