If you are staying in the area for Christmas then it looks like it may be a little rainy, but warm Christmas day with the high in the low 60’s according to Sedalia-Pettis County Emergency Management Agency Director, David Clippert.

If you are travelling west or north west you may run into snow and icy conditions. Wintry mix of snow/sleet or possibly ice may happen in northern Iowa and farther north.

East looks to be in good shape with just rain forecasted.

If you're traveling through Kansas City International or other airports over the holidays, Airlines for America (A4A), the industry trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines, projects that 45.2 million passengers will fly on U.S. airlines during the 21-day period that started Friday, December 15 through Thursday, January 5. 

The Kansas City Aviation Department projects that more than 715,000 passengers at KCI Airport during the 2016/2017 winter holiday period, up 12.7 percent, on 6,356 arrivals and departures. Peak days will see approximately 37,000 travelers in and out of KCI.

Workers at Kansas City International Airport are gearing up for annual winter holiday season travel. Airport officials suggest that travelers are prepared and arrive at least 90 minutes prior to departure. Due to impending winter weather in much of the country, most U.S. airlines are waiving change fees for travel this weekend. To keep things at the terminal curbs running smoothly, KCI Airport Police Traffic Control Officers will strictly enforce parking restrictions.
