The good folks at Zippia.com has come up with a crazy list of common interests on resumes. And I do mean crazy!

So you're sitting down making out a resume.  You have the normal stuff listed, i.e., name, address, job qualifications, etc. Zippia then gathered up the most disproportionately common interests found on people’s resumes in each state across the country, by analyzing over 3.5 million resumes. 3,543,017 to be exact.

They then looked at different keywords that appeared in people’s additional interests the most across the country. Then they made a map of them.

What the map doesn’t show you, though, is just how crazily many resumes did mention these commonly used keywords. This is where if gets interesting.

Your're going to find keywords like Kardashians, Harry Potter, Redneck, Porn and others that may surprise you.

The Moral of This Story…Is to be mindful of the words you put into your resume. Most of the time when companies look at them, they scan for keywords—just like they did. It will be noticed and sometimes not in a good way.
