Ozarks Amphitheater in Camdenton, Missouri will host Ted Nugent and the Kentucky Headhunters - the first time the two acts have ever performed a double show together - on July 29.

"We've known Ted for years," said Richard Young of the Kentucky Headhunters. "For some reason we've just never hooked up and played shows. I'm hoping that after this one we'll have so much fun that we'll push our agencies to do more of them. We've played with everybody from Bob Dylan to David Bowie to Hank Williams, Jr., Ringo, you name it...Elton John. We've played with about everybody. I can't think if there's anybody that we haven't played with, other than Ted, probably, that we'd like to play with."

As a band, the Kentucky Headhunters will be celebrating their fiftieth anniversary in January. The group's debut hit album was released in 1989, a famous year in country music that also saw breakthroughs from superstar artists like Garth Brooks, Clint Black and Alan Jackson. "It was (a special year), not just for us, but for all of music," said Young. "It kind of opened the door for us. It was really the first time, I guess you could say, that a southern rock band had put an album out in country music that had blues roots. When we came out, I think it was something that people had been sitting around, tapping their watch, waiting on for a while. We were very fortunate that we caught on."

In November, the Kentucky Headhunters released their latest album, On Safari. "We're going to be playing a bunch of that (material) with Ted Nugent, and of course all the old standards, like Dumas Walker and Walk Softly."

The concert at Ozarks Amphitheater will be at 7:30 on Saturday, July 29. Doors open at 7. General admission tickets are $30. Reserved seats are $50. Tickets can be purchased online. Additional shows coming up this season at Ozarks Amphitheater include Get the Led Out (a Led Zeppelin tribute band) on August 26, and country music star Aaron Tippin on September 23.
