I had one of those moments in my life that took place earlier this week that made me realize that not only is my mom getting older but I am too.

My wife and I had to place my mom in a nursing home on Tuesday.  We had taken her in to our home back in September after she had fallen and broke her hip.  Well almost eight months later, it came to the point that we felt we couldn't care for her on our own. Medically, ailments weren't progressing as we hoped, and the physical and mental strain that goes along with it was wearing us down.

It's amazing what our parents do for us as we are growing up...The love and dedication to our lives as we progress through our childhood into our adult years.  It's never an easy decision on what we did this week.  Maybe it's even harder realizing that I'm not far behind her.on decisions that will have to be made about myself in the future.

I guess I'm getting a little melancholy with age.  Enjoy your time with your family.  It's amazing how time passes as you get older.  You can always look back and wonder what if but unfortunately  you can't make up for lost time.  It will always be lost, but you can make changes now for the future that can make a difference with the upcoming days in your life and in the lives of others.

As the great philosopher Spock said, "Live long and prosper."  (Humor never hurts!!!)
