The Blue Angels To Highlight Kansas City Air Show In 2015

Kansas City, MO – After a 3 year hiatus, the Kansas City Air Show will return in 2015.  Mid-America Youth Aviation Association (MAYAA) officials, who organize and manage the event, announced today that the show will take to the skies on August 22nd and 23rd, 2015 at Kansas City Wheeler Downtown Airport.  The show will be headlined by the United States Navy Blue Angels demonstration team.

The Blue Angels demonstration team will be a very special for the Number One Blue Angel “The Boss” who has family that live in Kansas City.  Captain Thomas Frosch is a native of Clinton Township, Mich., and graduated from Fraser High School, Fraser, Mich., in 1988 where he lettered in football. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., where he also lettered in football, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering in 1992 and was commissioned, an Ensign.

Captain Frosch joined the Blue Angels as Commanding Officer in November 2012. He has more than 3,300 flight hours and 830 carrier arrested landings.

In addition to the Blue Angels, the Kansas City Air Show will host an impressive lineup of military and civilian performers and unique ground displays.  Other specific performers who will be performing at the airshow will be announced as their attendance is confirmed.

This hiatus has been a very challenging time for the team that produces the Kansas Airshow. The Blue Angels were originally scheduled to be in Kansas City in 2013, but were forced to cancel just a couple of months prior to their scheduled performance date due to the federal government sequestration.

“We are extremely excited about being able to have a major airshow again in 2015. It has been especially difficult time for the airshow industry. Many, many of the major air shows have been suspended pending a change in the economy. The fact that the Blue Angels are committed to coming to Kansas City we feel is a change in the right direction.” stated Ed Noyallis, Executive Director - Chairman of the Mid-America Youth Aviation Association.  “We are very pleased to once again bring a world-class air show to the great fans here in Kansas City,” he added.
