The Band Perry are going for gold. The trio's song "Live Forever" is making its way to the Olympics!

In a post to Facebook this week, the siblings revealed that "Live Forever" has become Team USA's official song for the 2016 Olympics. The Band Perry announced the news alongside a new video of the song that showcases several athletes from the Team USA gearing up for the big event.

The band is currently in New York and visited Today on Wednesday morning (April 27), where they talked about the big news as well as performed the song "Live Forever."  They also revealed their excitement to attend the games, as this is the first time they'll be going to Olympics after years of watching it on television.

“‘Live Forever’ is really about those moments that make you feel like you’re going to live forever and that really is the spirit of the Olympics,” Kimberly Perry tells co-hosts Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie. “We’re just really honored to bring that song to these guys.”

The 2016 Olympics will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, beginning August 5.

"Live Forever" was the last single the band released before splitting from their label Big Machine Label Group in March.

"We are grateful for 6 years of the big moments and great strides we made with our BMLG family and will carry that foundation forward with us as we begin the next leg of our journey,” the sibling trio (Kimberly, Reid and Neil) said in a statement.

"Live Forever" was the lead single from what was expected to be the band’s third album Heart + Beat. No word on when the band is aiming to release new music, but they previously told fans that it is on the way.
