The entire St. Louis Cardinals family is deeply saddened by the passing of Cardinals Hall of Famer Stan Musial at the age of 92.  Musial, who played his entire 22-year major league career (1941-63) for the Cardinals, died this evening at his home in Ladue surrounded by his family.

Kitty Wells did almost as much for country music as the guitar and fiddle. The Queen of Country died on Monday at the age of 92 after complications from a recent stroke. Wells was not only a major hitmaker in the ’50s and ’60s, but she was the first female country singer with a voice that the mostly male-dominated industry stepped aside and respected.

The funeral for Lynn Phillips was held at the Celebration Center in Sedalia this morning (May 31).  Former students, parents and community members gathered along the east side of Highway 65 to honor the Skyline librarian by holding up children’s books as the procession passed.  The tribute was organized by the Sedalia School District.

The Sedalia School District plans to have a tribute to their librarian, Lynn Phillips, who lost her battle with cancer on Saturday, May 26. They are asking students, past and present and anyone else who would like to line the east side of Highway 65 holding a children’s book as the processional passes on Thursday, May 31. They ask that you be in place by 11:15 a.m.
