The Dark Knight Rises

Anne Hathaway memorably played Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, but she very nearly played another catty superhero. The Oscar-winning actress was set to play Black Cat in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4, which would have also featured John Malkovich as Vulture. That film was canceled shortly before filming and Sony eventually decided to reboot the whole franchise. That’s just one of the facts packed into the latest episode of You Think You Know Movies, which goes completely batty with The Dark Knight Rises!

Hey there, ‘Total Recall.’ You know how you were supposed to be pretty big movie? Well, hopefully you’re sitting down because, well…you’re not. You see, there’s this little thing called ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘ that isn’t a remake of a much-beloved film and it doesn’t star Colin Farrell and people actually seem to generally kinda’ like it. Since the box office numbers from last week were not formally released until after the weekend passed, we need to play a quick game of catch-up with ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’ The third and final of Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies opened to $160 million, a number that is staggering, but not record breaking. Did it even stand a chance of breaking the $200 million mark and challenging ‘The Avengers‘

After the ‘Dark Knight Rises’ shooting that left 12 people dead and another 50 injured, theaters across the country are addressing security concerns as sold-out crowds return to theaters for the weekend.

The most hotly-anticipated movie of the summer opens this weekend, so it’s no surprise it’ll stand alone as the only new flick to hit theaters. Who’d want to compete against what will almost surely wind up being one of the most successful films of all time?

‘The Dark Knight Rises‘ tickets went on sale earlier this week and the first midnight showings promptly sold out in just minutes. Now, tickets to the midnight IMAX screenings are popping up on eBay and Craigslist for over $100; at times an almost 80% markup. Boy, we’ve heard about a ticket prices going up, but this is ridiculous.
