The FIFA World Cup is going on and there has been a lot of talk on Facebook and Twitter about the last game, between the USA and Portugal, that ended in a 2-2 tie. Facebook claims there were 10 million people posting and 20 million interactions during the game and Twitter said there were 8 million tweets about the match
Starting June 12, countries across the globe will adjust their schedules to align with Brazil so their citizens can watch as their national teams quest after the greatest trophy in the footballing world: the World Cup.
The annual Kickin' It For a Cure soccer game will be held at the Susie Ditzfeld Soccer Field tonight (May 8) between the Smith-Cotton Tigers and Warrensburg Tigers. This annual game has been played in years past to raise awareness for breast cancer. This year, the benefits of the game will be going to Bothwell Regional Health Center for the cancer services they provide.
The Paul Klover Soccer Association has a new venture this year called the PKSA Futsal League that will play at the old Boys & Girls Club Gym at 312 South Washington. This league is a newer concept of indoors called the Futsal League where they play on a gym floor with a reduced bounce ball. The games will consist of two teams of five players, including the goal keeper.
The Paul Klover Soccer Association is celebrating 50 years of being in Sedalia this year. This league allows the youth of the area to appreciate soccer and play in a recreational atmosphere. Soccer is said to be the most popular sport in the world, and it shows in Sedalia. On any given day you can head to Clover Dell Soccer Park and see a game played of some sort on thirteen different fields.
While the competition on the field was fierce, something off of the field was more exciting than winning a game off of a penalty kick shootout. The annual Kickin' It For A Cure soccer game was held at the Susie Ditzfeld Soccer Field Thursday night (April 25). The Smith-Cotton Lady Tigers played host to the Clinton Lady Cardinals. The Lady Tigers were sporting pink home jerseys in honor of the Breast Cancer Awareness Event.
I've never been a soccer fan. Soccer moms didn't exist when I was growing up. The sport was just taking hold in the U.S. as I graduated high school. So when a friend of mine invited me to a Sporting Kansas City game against the Toronto FC, I was a little worried that I wouldn't enjoy it.
