Kickin' It For A Cure Soccer Game Raises Breast Cancer Awareness [PHOTOS]

While the competition on the field was fierce, something off of the field was more exciting than winning a game off of a penalty kick shootout. The annual Kickin' It For A Cure soccer game was held at the Susie Ditzfeld Soccer Field Thursday night (April 25). The Smith-Cotton Lady Tigers played host to the Clinton Lady Cardinals. The Lady Tigers were sporting pink home jerseys in honor of the Breast Cancer Awareness Event.

Stephanie Jackson Hired as Principal at Parkview Elementary School

On Monday night (April 23), the Sedalia School District 200 Board of Education approved the hiring of Mrs. Stephanie Jackson, assistant principal at Smith-Cotton Junior High School, as principal at Parkview Elementary School. She succeeds Mrs. Kelly Sobaski, who last week announced her retirement, effective at the end of the current school year.

The Sedalia 200 School Board met at Smith-Cotton High School last night (April 8) for the first meeting following an election. The first item on the agenda was the swearing in of the newly elected members, which consisted of returning board member David Wolf and the new board member Diane Nichols, a longtime member of the Sedalia 200 School Foundation who took the seat of Stan Bowlin, who did not seek reelection.

In closed session on Monday, January 28, 2013, the Board of Education of the Sedalia #200 School District, hired Mr. Jason Curry to be the Smith-Cotton Jr. High School Principal for the 2013-2014 school year. In addition to hiring Curry, the Sedalia #200 School District, hired Mr. Wade Norton to be the Smith-Cotton High School Principal for the 2013-2014 school year as well.

Over the weekend, the 2013 S-C Lady Tiger McDonald's Classic wrapped up with a thrilling championship game. Nixa was crowned the champion of the tournament over Hickman in one of the best match-ups you will get to see before the state tournament. The Board of Education of the Sedalia #200 School District hired Mr. Steve Triplett as Assistant Superintendent of Schools in charge of Buildings and Grounds / Student Support Services during a closed session on Monday, Jan. 14. He will fill the position on July 1, 2013, when Bradley Pollitt vacates the position and becomes the Superintendent of Schools.

Even after the opening night power outage hiccup, the Smith-Cotton McDonald's Classic was once again a great tournament. We had the opportunity to cover the Smith-Cotton games on 92.3 BOB FM. This year featured some of the best talent you will see in any local tournament. I personally want to say thank you to all the young men, coaches, and high school's who competed in the tournament and make it so exciting to watch. The 2013 S-C McDonald's Classic All Tournament Team has just been announced. Congratulations to all of these young athletes and good luck the rest of the year!
