Here we go again, another busy weekend with something for everybody in Sedalia. It all starts on Saturday with the Blues Cruise and BBQ and tailgate competition. Come set up your tailgate just like you do when you attend an event and you could win
Kids, I don't know about you, but as a kid every year our local church would have a Vacation Bible School. It was always a lot of fun for us because sometimes kids you didn't know would go and you'd meet new people.
The Sedalia City Council met last night (May 23) to once again discuss the idea of a smoke free Sedalia. The pre-council meeting was a lively session of debate among the seven members in attendance, with the council clearly still split on the issue as they were at the work session earlier in the month.
The 2013 Show Me Honor Flight veterans returned to Sedalia late last night after their trip to visit their memorials in Washington D.C. With financial support from the community, the veterans visited the WW II, Korean and Vietnam war memorials.
Here are photos from their homecoming celebration provided by Kevin Walker.
Kids, this past weekend I got a real treat. I took some people I care about to the Bothwell Lodge. I figured this would be something we could talk about and share together, since everyone's always looking for fun things to do. And, this is an educational thing for you to do with kids that can also get them outdoors. Just about anything you can do to get kids off of their phones and tablets is good, right?
Sgt. 1st Class Trenton L. Rhea, 33, of Kansas City, Mo., died May 15 in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He was a member of the 603rd Military Police Company, in Belton, Mo. He deployed under Operation Enduring Freedom.
Kids, we've talked about Blood Drives before. And I'll admit, I'm pretty aware of them because they show up a lot for my Community Calendar stuff. Well, there are quite a few coming up, and if there's anything I like to do it's keep you informed.
Sedalians can expect a brand new Steak 'n Shake to open in town later this year. Owner Jorge Guevara has announced that excavation is scheduled to begin within the next 30 days. Groundbreaking is expected by July at the 4201 Wisconsin Ave. location with a tentative opening date in October.
