Relay for Life

Walk into Moore's Greenhouse and Flower Shop this October and you'll get more than an eyeful of flowers.  You'll find yourself standing among a variety of hand-crafted, elaborately decorated underwear provided by members of the local community.  The bras aren't just for show; these glittered garments are entries in Moore's annual "Bra Contest" and help raise money for 2013 Relay for Life

Tattoos for a Cure will be a 24-hour event at Addictive Ink in Sedalia.  It's a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and the Relay for Life.  They do a little ribbon tattoo on you for $25, and that money goes to those charities.   They're going to be doing it for 24 hours, too. I had the opportunity to head out to the Missouri State Fairgrounds for the 2012 Pettis County Relay for Life Friday night (June 8).  This year, 26 teams participated in taking turns walking around a track for 12 hours to raise money for the American Cancer Society.  Each team had  a campsite that was decorated.  They also used them for fundraising.

The 2012 Pettis County Relay For Life is set to take place this Friday on the Missouri State Fairgrounds. In this event, teams are formed and they raise funds through pledges and other fund raising events leading up to the relay.  On Saturday night starting at 6, walkers will take turns going around the track for 12 hours.
