Best Decade of Music?
On Sunday night, I had a moment where I actually thought I was an old man. As I sat watching the Billboard Music Awards, I remember mumbling multiple old man phrases to myself.  Things like, "This music is garbage," "Does anyone really like this?" and "They're clearly lip syncing their performance." Quickly after the Billboard Music Awards ended, I came to the conclus

Severe thunderstorms, 60 mph winds and hail the size of ping pong balls battered Mid-Missouri on Monday (May 20).  The nasty weather included a small tornado in Pettis County and Tornado Warnings for Sedalia, LaMonte, Smithton and Green Ridge.  Some lost power and others sustained damage to their homes and vehicles.  Those that were prepared for the weather rode the storm out and may have been a l

The Sedalia City Council met in a work session Monday night to discuss one of the most controversial issues it has faced in years; a smoke-free Sedalia. The council is apparently split on the issue with some councilmen showing a marked timidity on the subject, with others engaging in a heated debate on the subject.

Should Women Without Kids Receive Mother’s Day Gifts? [POLL]
Over the weekend, I overheard a woman going on and on about what she wanted for Mother's Day. Diamond earrings, a few hours at the spa and a nice dinner out. Except for one small detail: she didn't have any kids! I almost fell out of my chair when the lady she was with asked, "Your husband does all that and you guys don't even have kids?" Apparently, they have an agreement that because s

The Power Of A Nap: Are You a Power Napper or Deep Sleeper? [POLL]
For years, researchers have told us of the power of a nap. Since then, the term "Power Nap" reared it's ugly head, and a lot of people made it a habit to catch a five or 10 minute snooze in the parking lot, in their car, before coming back into the office at work, for example.

It's Wednesday, and we are all ready to get over this Hump Day and be on the downslide of the week as we look forward to the weekend. I hope the installments of "Would You Rather" help take your mind off of being stuck in the middle of the week, at least for the 57 seconds it takes you to read this and vote on the question.

The Sedalia City Council met in the council chambers of City Hall for a work session Monday night (April 29). There were three items on the agenda, but the one that drew the capacity crowd to the chamber was the proposal that would make Sedalia a smoke-free city.
