Let's try to conjure up a way to make Dad smile this Father's Day! What is the best gift you can give Dad on Father's Day?

Over the weekend, I overheard a woman going on and on about what she wanted for Mother's Day. Diamond earrings, a few hours at the spa and a nice dinner out. Except for one small detail: she didn't have any kids! I almost fell out of my chair when the lady she was with asked, "Your husband does all that and you guys don't even have kids?"

Apparently, they have an agreement that because she could theoretically have kids, she should get a Mother's Day present. Is it just me or is that a little...weird?

Christmas traditions come in all shapes and sizes.  Some are practiced by many while others are unique to specific families.  One of the most time honored of these is the opening of gifts.  What is your tradition?

My friends will sometimes ask what I want for Christmas.  I always have a hard time answering them.  The material things I would like to have are items that I cannot afford. As you watch the advertisements and do your shopping, I'm sure you've seen gifts ideas that made you think, "Please don't buy me that."  Tell us which gifts they were.

I was talking with Sammy Kershaw this morning about Christmas gifts.  We were reminiscing about the time when we had to put actual thought into the presents we bought for people.  We had to pay attention to their likes and dislikes and find the gift that would tell them that we cared enough to know they would enjoy having that item.  Today we seem to be all about cash and gift cards.  Those items seem very impersonal to me.  Giving them seems to say "I don't know anything about you, but you're on my Christmas list. So here ya go."
