Entertainer of the Year

These days, the CMA Award Entertainer of the Year is usually well-respected and receiving the award is a great honor. However that wasn't the case in 1975 when the award was given to John Denver. In fact, Charlie Rich got all hot and bothered (literally!) when he had to announce Denver as the winner.

George Strait is a legend in country music, and now he's the 2014 ACM Entertainer of the Year.

George Strait, the King of Country, reigned supreme at the 2013 CMA Awards, nabbing the coveted Entertainer of the Year trophy. The legend, who is retiring from active touring next year, was truly surprised by the win, but we weren't. It's doubtful that any of the country superstars at the ceremony were shocked by his win, either.

In a surprise upset, Luke Bryan took home the coveted Entertainer of the Year award at the 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday night (April 7) -- beating out more established stars like Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton and Taylor Swift.
