When you hear a story about a landlord, it's usually an angry tale concerning neglect or some kind of funny business with a security deposit. Instead, this holiday season we present a tale that will make any heart grow three sizes.
One of the big traditions for those celebrating Christmas is putting up the Christmas tree for the season. Although there is the constant debate over having a real or fake tree, we're going to talk about where to get your real trees in Sedalia.
I was talking with Sammy Kershaw this morning about Christmas gifts. We were reminiscing about the time when we had to put actual thought into the presents we bought for people. We had to pay attention to their likes and dislikes and find the gift that would tell them that we cared enough to know they would enjoy having that item. Today we seem to be all about cash and gift cards. Those items seem very impersonal to me. Giving them seems to say "I don't know anything about you, but you're on my Christmas list. So here ya go."
Didn't get what was on your Christmas list last year? Many people consider "regifting "a great alternative for letting those unwanted Christmas presents collect dust in the attic. But is socially acceptable?
We were in a meeting and talking about all things Christmas when the topic of trees came up. I mentioned that I am actually putting a tree up this year. Behka mentioned that she didn't have one. I remembered that she lived in the Mark Twain Apartments and thought she may have lost hers in the fire, so I offered her a small fiber optic tree that someone gave me last year. She refused it saying she didn't want a tree. I was aghast! I had no idea she was a "Scrooge".
Scotty McCreery will be on hand during the 'Christmas in Rockefeller Center' television special to help ring in the Christmas season. The 'American Idol' champion will appear as part of a star-studded lineup, which includes fellow crooner Trace Adkins, as well as Mariah Carey, Cee Lo Green and others.
