Comedians Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle headlined a chaotic show Sunday night at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis. It wasn't however, the comedy, that created the chaos.
Granted, it’s May, but when have you ever known Bill Murray to pop up when expected? The revered and eccentric comedian has finally locked down his long-discussed Christmas special with Sofia Coppola sending holiday cheer to Netflix this December with A Very Murray Christmas.
We knew going in that the SNL 40th anniversary special would be chock-full of just about every famous person who has ever walked within spitting distance of 30 Rockefeller Plaza and the opening monologue was quick to make use of this genuinely insane temporary cast of stars. Things got started on the right foot when the always-welcome Steve Martin took the stage ... but then he was joined by Tom Hanks. And then things got really crazy.
Comedian/actor/writer/director Chris Rock has already proven that he can do just about everything -- and do it pretty well, if his upcoming feature 'Top Five' is any indication -- but the funny man almost had another major career move bulleted on his resume. Before Rock made it big as an actor, he dabbled in the disc jockey arts, deeming his own skills to be "nice!" Chris Rock: Comedian, actor, and now he can add director to his resume with 'Top Five,' a film that had plenty of people talking when it premiered at this year's film festival in Toronto. Paramount wasted no time picking the film up, and it seems like the studio is wasting very little time in getting Rock's very promising directorial debut out there as quickly as possible. Judging by the first trailer, featuring a cast of incredibly funny and talented folks, this is going to be delightful.
