Saturday night, I made my way to the Independence Events Center for the first stop of the Ball Up Tour.  I grew up in the era when kids were emulating the And 1 street-ball players at every park or playground you went to. The Ball Up tour is comprised of the old And1 street-ball team and the best basketball players from the city they are facing.  The part of the night I was most looking forward to was a guaranteed interview with Dennis Rodman, the celebrity head coach for the Kansas City team.

Kids, I know that we're all busy.  You work, you have to take care of your family, you have to tend to your friends, and you certainly have to be sure to get some time in with the pets.  So when it comes to the summer, sometimes it's really easy to just take the easy way out and send the children to the pool.  And that's great, don't get me wrong.  But sometimes you need something else to capture their interest. Something active.  Something where they're learning things and interacting with other kids, and having fun.  So why not sign your kids up for a few of the summer sports out at State Fair Community College?  They've got a lot to choose from, as you can see.

Former SFCC Head Coach Bill Barton Elected to the Region 16 Hall of Fame

According to the SFCC Athletic Department, former Men's Basketball Head Coach Bill Barton has been elected to the Region 16 Hall of Fame.  During his tenure at SFCC, Barton recorded over 600 wins as head coach.  Barton is no stranger halls of fame. He is in the SFCC Hall of Fame, The Missouri State Sports Hall of Fame and the National Junior College Hall of Fame, and in my opinion, he belongs in even more.

SFCC Basketball Player Kenny Chery Signs With Baylor

Today was a historic day for the State Fair Community College Athletics Program as Sophomore Guard Kenny Chery officially signed his letter of intent to play at Baylor. In this past season, Chery was the Roadrunners' leading scorer, averaging 16.4 points and five rebounds per game and 105 assists for the season. Cherry also led the team in steals with 48.
