50 Shades of Grey

A St. Louis man drowned while swimming at Johnson's Shut-Ins in Reynolds County Tuesday afternoon.

The 2016 Razzie Awards have been announced and Adam “The Sandman” Sandler leads the pack with a rare double nomination in the Worst Actor category, for his combined efforts in The Cobbler and Pixels — we can only assume that as an online-only release, Sandler’s performance in The Ridiculous Six was ineligible, and prevented him from earning the coveted hat trick of crappiness. Along with Pixels, Paul Blart 2, Fantastic Four, Fifty Shades of Grey and Jupiter Ascending fill out the most hotly contested race of Worst Film.

For all the controversy and hubbub surrounding Fifty Shades of Grey, did you know that movies sex scenes only add up to 14 minutes of the film’s two hour and five minute runtime? That’s just 11% of what everyone went to see in the first place. This is just one of the facts packed into the latest episode of You Think You Know Movies, which takes the pain train to Fifty Shades of Grey!

That 'Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2' trailer almost stole some thunder tonight because I pretty much forgot that we were getting a brand, uh, spanking new, Beyoncé-accompanied trailer for '50 Shades of Grey.' Shady move, Blart. The second full trailer for the upcoming adaptation of the popular 'Twilight' fan-fiction erotica novel is here, so let's break it down, shall we?

We won’t know exactly how graphic ‘50 Shades of Grey’ is going to be until we see the film with our own cursed eyeballs, but we now officially know that the film has been given an R-rating by the pearl-clutching members of the MPAA. What does that R-rating stand for? Graphic nudity, “strong sexual content,” and “unusual behavior.” Wait, what the hell is unusual behavior?!

One of the great celebratory moments of 2014 was seeing Ben Affleck nude in 'Gone Girl' (and a little bit of Neil Patrick Harris too, if you were paying attention). It's not as if us women are male-nudity-starved, craven maniacs just salivating for a glimpse of wang or something, but with all the rampant female nudity and objectification that permeates pop culture, it's nice to see a little equality. So it's disheartening to hear that Jamie Dornan will not be appearing fully nude in '50 Shades of Grey,' as if that movie needed another reason to be avoided.

When Emma McCormick read aloud passages of the runaway erotic best-seller ‘Fifty Shades of Grey‘ to her longtime boyfriend last month, he had a very, um,  saucy reaction. Unfortunately for McCormick’s eyes and Raymond Hodgson’s permanent record we’re talking the A.1. kind of saucy.

I took the time out of my life to read "50 Shades of Grey" and I can sum up this massively popular novel in two words.  IT SUCKS!

My esteemed colleague, Denny Perkins, recently wrote in a blog post that the movie "Magic Mike" and the book "50 Shades of Grey" are bad news for married guys.  I disagree.  I say the craze of these to pieces of entertainment offer us great insight and an opportunity for people's relationships to improve.
