Smith-Cotton High School JROTC will be hosting its 12th Annual Drill Championship competition on Saturday, 18 February 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Smith-Cotton High School.

Support the local kids in the JROTC by attending this event.  Schools will  be coming from Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa and Kansas to compete.  Events include Unarmed Regulation and Exhibition, Armed Regulation and Exhibition, Color Guard, and Individual Drill Down. Unarmed Regulation consists of a Platoon Marching without Rifles. Armed Regulation consists of a Platoon Marching with Rifles. Exhibition consists of a Platoon marching with or without Rifles trying to impress the Judge by using movements not typical to a normal drill routine. Color Guard consists of a team presenting the National and State Colors.  Other highlights of the Smith-Cotton JROTC Drill Meet include a silent auction and the selling of 50/50 raffle tickets. I got to speak with a few young ladies with the JROTC about the event, coming up in a couple of weeks. Here's my interview with Kristen Ott, Erin Johnson, and Creata Miranda.

The silent auction will include valuable items from local businesses and many restaurants in Sedalia.  All proceeds will benefit the Smith-Cotton High School JROTC program for things like scholarships. If you need more  information, call  LTC Harry Cunningham at 660-851-5317.

Scholarly yours,
Behka
