The National Weather Service is predicting that severe weather could pick up this weekend, with a higher likelihood that bad weather will strike on Sunday night or Monday morning.

Sedalia and Pettis County EMA Director David Clippert reported:

Our next chance at severe weather is Sunday into Monday (D5 Sunday and D6 Monday on the graphic). Sunday (D5)  looks like our main risk will be large hail with damaging winds. Isolated tornadoes are also possible. Monday (D6) looks to have the highest risk for tornadoes.
This is still a few days out, so this will most likely change as the we get closer to the weekend. This is just a heads up that we could see severe weather on Sunday into Monday.
By the end of April 2012, the US had 496 confirmed tornadoes. By the end of April 2013 the US has had 237 (that is a preliminary number and will most likely go down). 2013 is shaping up to be a very low year for tornadic activity.
