Numerous awards were handed out Monday night to start off Sedalia's 80-minute City Council meeting.

A service award was presented from Mayor John Kehde to Stephanie Sneed, who served five years as office manager for the library.

Tim Curry, a building inspector with Community Development for 10 years, as well as Sedalia Police Officer Andrew Bruce, who has served five years, were not present Monday night.

Three firefighters who recently transitioned from their probationary status to serve as full-time firefighters for Sedalia (Matthew Moulton, Justin Hilliard and Caleb Morrison) received their badges from Sedalia Fire Chief Greg Harrell and Deputy Chief Matt Irwin. Select family members participated in the pining ceremony.

Three retiring firefighters were honored for their decades of service, including Paul Withers (39 years, three months), Hugo Twenter (37 years, five months) both who attended the meeting Monday night, and former Chief Mike Ditzfeld, who did not attend.

Donald Thomas was recognized for his nine years, six months of service in the Water Pollution Control (WPC) department (sewer).
