Here's a look at the events going on in our area this weekend.

 The theme for the Cole Camp Fair is The Heritage We Treasure.

The three day fair begins with teen contests, washer tournament, King and Queen contests and the Grand Parade on Thursday.  On Friday, there will be games for adults and children, an antique and classic tractor parade at 7:00 p.m. followed by entertainment from the ACapella group  Blend.  On Saturday, there will be a 5k run/walk followed by a kiddie and grand parade at 10:00 a.m.  The antique car parade is at 7:00 p.m. and the entertainment that evening will be provided by Phil Vandel. There will also be a beer garden, teen garden, carnival, and food.

The historic Katy Depot will host the monthly First Friday Happy Hour at the depot.

It’ll take place on Friday, September 5 beginning at 5:30 p.m. and at 6:00 p.m. Patrick Lee will present Daniel Boone and his life story in a most compelling way.  Refreshsments will be served.  Seating capacity is limited, so reservations are encouraged to guarantee a chair.

The Sedalia Parks and Recreation will have their Community Dance.

It’ll take place on Friday, September 5th. from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.  at the Liberty Park Convention Hall, 1500 W 3rd Street. Admission is a free will donation. Music Provided By : John Cecilia and the Country Ordaras.  Potluck dinner.  All proceeds will benefit the Sedalia Senior Center.

The Shrine Club of Sedalia will have their monthly breakfast.

It’s open to the public and held at 1375 Elm Hills blvd.  It’ll happen on Saturday, September 6 from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m.  They’ll serve eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, juice, milk or coffee for $6.  For to go orders, call 660-281-3619 or 826-6171.

The Sedalia Christian Outreach presents a free showing of the movie "God's Not Dead". 

It'll take place on Saturday, September 6 in the parking lot of the First United Methodist Church on West 32nd street.  The movie will begin at 8:00 p.m.  They'll have free hot dogs, pop corn and soda.  There will also be a drawing for two free concert tickets.  Tickets will be on sale for the Newsboys, Family Force 5 and 7eventh Time Down Concert on Sunday October 12.  Tickets cost $20 arena, $25 floor.

The 16th annual Chicks with Sticks 2 lady scramble will be on September 6 at the Elm Hills Golf Course starting at 8:00 a.m. 

The cost per team is $100 plus a charge of $18 for a golf cart.  This event will include a full breakfast, lunch, 18 holes of golf, and four special events with prizes.  There will be three flights, with a full field of 27 teams.  There will also be a silent auction open to the public, at the Shriner’s Breakfast.  To register for the golf event, please contact Pat at 620-2939.  Proceeds will benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Sedalia area residents are invited to take the first step to a world without Alzheimer’s disease by participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, September 6, at the Missouri State Fairgrounds-Highway Gardens in Sedalia.

There are two ways to sign-up – online or at the event. Online registration is now open and event registration begins at 8:30 am on Sept. 6, followed by the Opening Ceremony/Walk at 10:00 am. The planning committee hopes to raise $34,000 at this year’s event. Walkers can start a team or join a team, or just come Walk with their family and friends. The Welcome Home Warrior Summit will be on Saturday, September 6. 

They will welcome home several  service members, veterans dealing with mental illness or other problems, and all veterans, their families, wounded warriors and gold star families.  The event will be held at the America’s Center Convention Complex in St Louis from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

There will be a Fish Fry & Pie Auction on Saturday, September 6th.

The event will take place at the Olive Branch Baptist Church, 20657 Highway O in Sedalia beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Tickets will be for sale at Vaughan Pools on south 65 Highway.  Tickets $7/$4 for 12 and under 3 and under free, at the door $8/$5 for 12 and under 3 and under free.  All proceeds will go to the children’s church.

The New Bethel United Methodist Church will host a musical event.

Praises to Him are an Old Fashioned preaching and revival group with southern, bluegrass, and country gospel, as well as gospel magic and clowning out of Paris, Missouri.  The show will be on September 7th at 10:00 a.m. at the church, 1219 E 20th St in Sedalia - go four  miles South of Sedalia on Hwy 65.
