Here's a look at what's going on this weekend! 

The Smith Cotton Class of 1994 will have their 20 Year reunion.

On Friday afternoon and evening of October 17, attend the Homecoming Parade at 3:30 downtown, on Ohio.  The football tailgating will be at the new Smith Cotton High school football stadium at 5:00 p.m.  Then, there will be an informal social gathering at Fitters after the game.  On Saturday, October 18, there will be a Saturday morning pancake breakfast at the Junior High from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.  There will also be a school tour. The main event will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the Fox Theater Event Center at Fifth and Ohio. There will be dinner catered by Little Big Horn, beer, wine, soda, and water along with a DJ.

There will be a Firefighters Memorial Walkathon on Friday, October 17 at the Smith Cotton Junior High School. 

The 9th Grade Team Victory, comprised of students and teachers, will be attempting to raise funds used to maintain the firefighter’s memorial at Liberty Park, help the families of fallen firefighters, and provide two scholarships each year to local students.  You may give donations to Victory students in advance, mail donations in to the Junior High, or donate in person at CVS Health, Woods, and Break Time.

Chicken Truckload Sale in Thompson Hills Shopping Center Parking Lot.

There will be Chicken Truckload sale to support the United Way.It’ll be held on Friday, October 17 from 9:00 a .m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Central Missouri Police Academy at the University of Central Missouri will host an Open House at the academy, located at 200 Ming Street, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17.
The public is invited to meet the academy staff and learn more about the programs offered by the academy.  Open house guests may view displays and test their investigative skills at a mock crime scene. The Friends of the La Monte FFA invite you to a whole hog dinner.

It’ll take place on Friday, October 17 at the LaMonte R-IV Ag Building from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Advance tickets are available from any member of the Friends of the LaMonte FFA, or Jim Cave at Ag Co-Op in LaMonte for a cost of $7.50 for ages 13 and up, or $6.50 for ages 6-12.  Ages 5 and under eat for free.  Price of adult admission goes up to $9.00 at the door.

The State Fair Community College Music Arts program will present its fall concerts at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 17 and 18 in the Stauffacher Theatre on the Sedalia campus.

The program will feature the SFCC Chamber Choir, Jazz Choir and Jazz Band performing music representing many eras and styles. The choirs are under the direction of Ron Sayer, Music Arts program coordinator, and the Jazz Band is under the direction of Danny Brymer, adjunct instructor of music. The choirs are accompanied by SFCC staff accompanist Gwendolyn Kappelman.  Tickets are $6 for the public and groups of 10 or more are half price. The Sedalia Kiwanis are hosting a Pancake Day Breakfast.

The breakfast will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 12 noon at Christ and Trinity and Lutheran Church, 3201 Southwest Blvd. Breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, fruit, coffee and juice. Tickets are $7.00 for adults and $3 for kids 6 and under. Tickets are available from any Kiwanis Club member. The St Ann Bazaar will be held in conjunction with Heritage Days. 

On Saturday October 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  and again from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday October 19.  They’ll have a craft booth, country bakery, flea market, country store, and cake wheel.   On Saturday there will be a Spaghetti and Meatball dinner from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday there will be  Roast Beef Dinner from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Tickets are $7 for adults, and $3 for children.  The event will be held in the Parish Hall, west damn access road off Hwy 7 in Warsaw.

The Golden Circle Horse Show Circuit will be having seven shows this year with three being held in Sedalia, and four being held at the Johnson County Fairgrounds.

The objectives of the show are to encourage good sportsmanship and proper conduct among horsemen and to foster good fellowship of all persons interested in saddle horses, to promote the education in the care, use, handling and development of horses and horsemanship, to create, stimulate and maintain interest in saddle horses and horseback riding in communities in the Golden Circle area and to encourage proper and humane handling and care of horses, to prevent cruelty to animals.  This will take place on Saturday, October 18 beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Missouri State Fairgrounds, in the Coliseum.  Visit their website for more information.

The Community of Christ at 2000 South Ingram, will host a barbecue beef and chicken dinner.

It’ll be held on October 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and again from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The menu will consist of barbecue beef and chicken, scalloped potatoes, baked beans, salad or jello, dessert, roll and drinks.  The cost is $8 for adults, and $4 for children aged 6 to 10.  Under 5 eat for free.

The Boonslick Regional Library of Cole Camp will host The Sedalia Ghost Hunters.

To celebrate Teen Read Week, the Cole Camp Boonslick Regional Library will be hosting The Sedalia Ghost Hunters , a member of T.A.P.S., will be giving a presentation on all things ghostly that bump in the dark! This event will take place on Saturday October the 18th at 12:00 p.m. in the Cole Camp meeting room.

The Ward Memorial Baptist Church will host a barbecue brisket dinner. 

It’ll take place on September 28 from noon until the food runs out.  The church is on the corner of Pettis and Osage street.  This is a men’s fellowship event and a cash donation of $8 is requested.

The Sedalia Community Harvest Dinner will be on Saturday, October 18.

It’ll be held at the Ditzfield Center, 2117 West Pettis in Sedalia from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  This will be in  memory of retired chemist Dr Jerry W Harlan.  There is no charge.  If you have questions, contact Rev Morris at 660-864-1423.

There will be a chili supper and silent auction to raise money to help Mikal Sue and her family go to the National MPS Conference and pay for medical expenses not covered by insurance.

It’ll take place on October 18 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Warsaw North Elementary Cafeteria.  The auction begins at 4:00 p.m. and ends at 6:30 p.m.  They’ll have a bake sale with pies, cupcakes, cakes and cookies.  The cost is $5 a person for chili with fixings, drink and a dessert.  The silent auction will include gift certificates, a hunting basket, salon certificates, coffee, 31 Bags, Avon, a fitness basket and many more items.  For more information about Mikal Sue and her condition, go to  https://www.facebook.com/MikalSuesSong/info

The Wesley Kids for Christ Preschool will have a free will donation spaghetti dinner.

It’ll take place on Saturday, October 18 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Join them for all you can eat spaghetti at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 1322 West Broadway.

The Trick or Trot 5k will be held October 18.

It’ll be held at the Missouri State Fairgrounds, beginning at 5:00 p.m.  Register at the Pettis County Juvenile Office at 403 South Lamine or at www.active.com.  Participants ages 13 and under are free unless they want to be timed.  Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in five categories.  Contact Erica Cox at 660-827-1062 for more information.

There will be a dinner and live auction to benefit the Midwest/West Liver Transplant fund.

It’ll be held on Saturday, October 18th with dinner between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. with the live auction held at 7:00 p.m.  The event will take place at the La Monte R-IV school multipurpose room.  Dinner is a choice of fried chicken or savory beef served with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, dessert and a drink.  Green bracelets will be sold at the door for $1.  Wear your green or the “Green Police Girls” will fine you a $1.  There will be a prize for the person who wears the most green  to the fundraiser.  Advanced tickets are sold fro 13 & Up at a cost of $10, for 12 and under the cost is $8.  At the door, prices go up a dollar.  Advance t-shirts are sold for $10.  To purchase tickets in advance, visit http://bit.ly/dinnerandliveauction or email Lea Anne for more information at leaannebell@outlook.com

The Central Missouri Harley Owners Group is hosting a Poker Run.

It’ll be held on Sunday, October 19 with registration at 11:00 a.m. at Yeager’s Cycle Sales.  Kick stands are up at noon and cash prizes will be awarded.  50% o the proceeds will go to prizes, the other half will go to the Pettis County Juvenile Drug Court.

Calvary Episcopal Church invites you to bring your well behaved pets to the Blessing of the Animals.

It’ll be held on Sunday, October 19 at 1:30 p.m. in the church garden, 713 South Ohio.  Complimentary refreshments will be available for the pets and their owners.  Cuddly toys and teddies can also come.  They’ll be accepting donations for the Mid Missouri Humane Society in the form of: dry cat food, dry dog food, cat litter, bleach, dish soap, laundry detergent, leashes, collars, toys, milk bones, rawhides and easy to wash bedding.  Dogs must be on leashes, all other pets must be in carriers.  Otherwise, photos are accepted.
