Here's a look at all the events coming up in our area this weekend. 

March 6th is Sedalia Day at Whiteman and you can help us show support for our men and women at Whiteman and also have an opportunity to take a tour at the Base.

We start with lunch at Missions End and the tour follows immediately after. For your planning purposes, you would need to arrive at Base by 11:45 for lunch, and the tour will last until about 2 or 2:30. If you are interested in joining us that day, you need to RSVP no later than Feb. 28, 2014, to JoLeigh Melte by email jmelte@cityofsedalia.com or by phone 827-3000.

She will need:
- Full legal name as it appears on your license
- Social Security Number
- Driver's license number with state of issue
You will be responsible for paying for lunch in cash that date also. Cost is $11.75.

The State Fair Community College Theatre Arts Program will present Lanford Wilson’s award-winning drama “Talley’s Folly” Feb. 26 through March 2 in the Thompson O’Sullivan Studio Theatre in Yeater Learning Center, Room 126, on the Sedalia campus.

Regular performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 26 through March 1; admission is $6. Tickets are $15 for a March 1 dinner theatre in the Yeater Learning Center lobby; dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. Special group rates are available for both regular performances and dinner theatre. The dinner theatre menu is available by calling the Box Office at (660) 596-7387 from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Wheelchair seating is available upon request.  A student matinée will be presented at 1 p.m. Feb. 27 and a matinée free to anyone 60 or older will be presented at 2 p.m. March 2.

Smithton 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament  early discounted registration ends on February 28.

The event will take place on Saturday, March 22 in Smithton. It’s for ages  3rd Grade through High School, boys and girls.  There’s a cost of  $30 if registered by Feb. 28, $60 after Feb. 28 until March 19.  Registration can be done online, by mail, or in person at the Celebration Center (1701 West 32nd St).  Email smithton3on3@gmail.com or phone  660.343.5826.  Find them on Facebook by searching Smithton 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament.  Proceeds from this tournament go to the Imagine No Malaria project (ImagineNoMalaria.org) to help put an end to this disease.

The Sweet Springs After Prom is sponsoring a 5K/color run on March 1, 2014. 

Cost to participate is $30 which includes t-shirt and powder. For registration form, please contact Rochelle Koch at 816-679-6690 or Lisa Hall at 660-281-6787. All proceeds from this event help to provide a safe, alcohol and drug free environment for the Sweet Springs students after the prom. If you are interested in sponsoring the run and having your name on the back of the t-shirts the cost is $25. Please contact either Lisa Hall or Rochelle Koch for more information.

The Boy Scout Troop 66 will have a Chili Supper at First Christian Church, 200 South Limit, on Saturday March 1 at 5:30 p.m.

Come join Sedalia Boy Scout Troop 66 for an evening of delicious soup and chili with all the fixings.  Enjoy the competition between challengers in our chili/soup cook-off and help your favorite recipe to win the penny war. The winner receives a Cash prize and a trophy. All proceeds will assist Sedalia boy scouts to attend camp and other events on the way to Eagle. The 4th Annual Quarter Mania Fundraiser to benefit the American Cancer Society will be on Saturday, March 1.

It’ll take place at the Warsaw Community Building.  Doors open at 4:00 p.m. The potato bar opens at 5:00 p.m. and the paddle auction is from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  Advance tickets are $15.  Purchase a paddle, sold separately, for $50.  The ticket includes the dinner, a white paddle for bidding, and hourly door prizes.  To purchase tickets, volunteer,  donate items for the auction, or for questions, call Sharon at 660-438-6065 or Jean at 660-438-7274.

Boy Scout Troops will come door to door to collect non perishable foods on Saturday, March 1.

Do a good turn, and help the Boy Scouts feed hungry Missourians. Fill a bag with non perishable food items and place it, along with the card you got on your front door before 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 1. Items needed most include: peanut butter, dry cereal and oatmeal, canned vegetables and fruits, dry goods (beans, pasta, macaroni), canned meats, fish, soups and chili.
