Here's a look at what's going on in Sedalia this weekend!

The Missouri Pacific Caboose is in need of a new home.

The Missouri Pacific Caboose / Sedalia Visitor Information Center project began early in 1986 at a time when the Sedalia MoPac shops was soon to be closed. The Shop Superintendent approached the Chamber/CVB to determine interest in receiving a caboose to serve as a Visitor Center. The caboose project resulted in a partnership between  the City of Sedalia, the Chamber/CVB and the Missouri State Fairgrounds lasting from 1986 until 2013.

An estimated $10,000 is needed to relocate and rehab for reuse. Various sponsorships levels are eligible as a charitable donation. Sale of commemorative merchandise will support ongoing operating and maintenance costs – preorder custom designed ornaments, collectors coins and MoPac Main Line track bookends today.

Summer Brain Gain is a  learning loss prevention program developed especially for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Comprised of one-week modules with fun, themed activities for elementary, middle and high school students, Brain Gain takes a project-based learning approach: youth engage in a process of learning through discovery, creative expression, group work and a final project or production.  As a result, members develop higher-order thinking skills while staying on track for the coming school year.  Many of the summer programs are within the Brain Gain program including Adventures in Science, Computer and Skills Lab, E-Lab, Energy In/Out and Music/Fine Arts.  For more information about the Club, including how to donate or volunteer your time, go to www.bgckids.com or call 660-826-8331.
