There are a lot of different things going on this weekend! 

The Andrew Lloyd Webber production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will be onstage at the historic Liberty Center Association for the Arts April 4-7 and 11-14, 2013.

Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased at the Liberty Center, 111 West 5th Street in historic Downtown Sedalia or by calling (660) 826-2899.  The show is an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical with lyrics by Tim Rice.  This family-friendly story has a universal theme with upbeat music sung through the entire show.  There is no spoken dialogue.

Tickets to the show cost $12 each and can be purchase with a credit card by calling (660) 826-2899 or at the LCAA office, 111 West 5th Street Tuesday through Friday.

Christ and Trinity will have their Spring Rummage and Bake Sale.

It’ll be held on Friday, April 5 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Saturday, April 6 from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church, 3201 Southwest Blvd just east of Skyline Elementary.

The Saint Paul Lutheran High School of Concordia will have a Fundraiser Expo.

It’ll be held on April 6th from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the silent auction bids end at 2:00 p.m. They’ll have 25 vendors and consultants and a bake sale for the sophomore class.  Included in the expo are homemade crafts, soaps, embroidery, tutus, homemade services, the Schwan’s Food Truck, Saints Family Cookbook, jewelry,  lettering, bows, and woodcrafts.  The SPLHS Singing Saints will accept financial donations for their spring Carnegie Hall Trip.  For more information, contact Mary Anderson at 660-463-2146.

Devon’s Beat is a 5k walk/run/bike for a little boy from Lincoln who was just diagnosed with a rare heart condition.

Money raised will benefit the SAD’s foundation. (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome) the event is April 6, 2013.  The registration begins at 8:00 a.m. For more information, contact Angela Parott at 547-3355.

Registration for Camp Blue Sky will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on April 6.

It’ll take place in the Stauffacher Center, on the campus of State Fair Community College.  Camp Blue Sky is a fine arts camp  held from July 29 through August 2 for children aged 5 through grade 9.  The theme this year is “The Future: Here Now Create Tomorrow” .  The camp is sponsored by the Cooney Endowment for the Arts and SFCC.  For more information, call 660-826-6392 or visit campbluesky.com

One Saturday April 6, the Sedalia Kiwanis Club will join members from around the world for a day of hands-on community service that is felt around the world. It’s called Kiwanis One Day.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time and here is Sedalia, local Kiwanians will host two projects to help keep kids safer.The Sedalia Kiwanis Club will sponsor a child seat safety event. The  event will be held from 10am until 2pm in the front parking lot of the main branch of Third National Bank located at 301 West Broadway. Car seat specialists with the Sedalia Police Department, the Sedalia Fire Department and the Pettis County Health Center will help parents correctly install child car safety For more information on Kiwanis One Day, contact Dave Kelley at 660-826-8218.

Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church 400 N. Lamine will be having a Catfish Dinner on Saturday, April 6.

It’ll be held from  11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The meal will include Catfish, Spaghetti, Coleslaw, Bread and Dessert for a donation of $8.00. Call 826-1980.

There will be a Ham and Bean dinner and auction, with proceeds to help the Sedalia Animal Shelter.

It’ll be held on April 6 at the First Christian Church of Sedalia, 200 South Limit.  The dinner begins at 5:00 p.m, the auction begins at 6:00 p.m.  Adult tickets are $5, children 12 and under are $3.

The New Hope Youth will be having a Spaghetti Supper/Silent Auction.

It will support a Mission Trip to West Virginia.Auction items include tickets from places such as Silver Dollar City, Big Surf, Branson, and the Kansas City Zoo, sports memorabilia, a toolbox from Waterloo and many more items.  It’ll be held at the New Hope Baptist Church, 664 East 16th starting at 5:00 p.m.  The supper is served on a free will donation basis.

There will be a fundraiser for the Benton County Cancer Fund on Sat. April 6 at the American Legion Hall  in Cole Camp.

A  ’potluck/freewill offering’  dinner begins at 6 pm. (bring 1 food item).  The live auction with auctioneer, Doug Dickman starts a 7 pm.  A silent auction will run from 6 to 9.  There will be a dance, with the band Tobacco Row playing country &  classic rock music from 8 until midnight.   Mary Donnell-Brown will teach a free dance called the Cotton-eyed Joe Mixer at 10 pm.  Mary is sponsoring this fundraiser in honor of 15 year old  Keeley Haynes, a Benton County resident who is being treated for cancer and in memory of her brother-in-law, Don Bunnell & her friend, Jenna Lee Fricken  who both lost their struggle with cancer. This will be a great evening with friends, food & fun,  all while helping a good cause.
