Sedalia’s Economic Development Director Craig Named President of MEDC

Jessica Craig, executive director of Economic Development Sedalia-Pettis County (EDSPC), was named 2017-2018 president of the Missouri Economic Development Council (MEDC) at the organization's annual conference at Lake of the Ozarks June 14.

Craig has been an active member of MEDC since 2004, previously serving as director at large, treasurer, secretary, co-chair of District 4, co-chair of the Conference Planning Committee and president-elect.

"It is my privilege to represent the professional economic developers around the state as we work with our communities to promote the success and growth of our existing businesses and advancing additional economic opportunity," Craig stated. "Not only is Missouri a great place to live, it is a great place to do business.

"Economic activity is stronger than it has been in over 10 years. Missouri is poised to capitalize upon this momentum and I look forward to leading MEDC as we lead our communities, both small and large, to promote business development and add jobs," she said.

Craig, now in her 14th year in the economic development profession, is working toward becoming a certified economic development professional through the International Economic Development Council. Craig holds bachelor degrees in accounting and finance from Missouri Valley College.

Pat Amick, MEDC executive director, said that Craig is a highly respected professional and brings the necessary collaboration skills to continually advance MEDC's strategies.

Craig was also presented with the 2017 MEDC President's Award at the conference. Mark Stombaugh, CEcD, EDFP, and former MEDC president, as well as Blue Springs' economic development manager, presented the award to Craig, stating that "Jessica is doing great things in Pettis County." Stombaugh added that he looks forward to her leadership.
