Sedalia Police attempted to stop a red Lexus that was speeding west on Broadway on Wednesday morning around 9:30.

According to a report, Officer Beard was on patrol when he observed a red Lexus traveling 67 in a 40 mph zone westbound on Highway 50 at Wagner at 9:28 a.m.

He attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the Lexus sped up & increased its speed to 67 in a 35 mph zone to elude Ofc. Beard. The Lexus then turned south on Montgomery and sped up to 63 in a 30 mph zone, according to the report. The suspect then turned east onto 16th from Montgomery and traveled over 70 mph.

The pursuit was then terminated “to reduce the incidence of pedestrian or vehicular collisions in the park and school zones,” the report said.

The suspect failed to signal for any of their turns, failed to stop for stop signs in the area and drove carelessly through school zones and park zones. The plates on the suspect vehicle were confirmed and the driver has been identified. No names were released, but charges are being sought, the report concluded.
