Sedalia, Pettis County Show Regional Economic Strength, City Administrator Says
In a 13-County West Central Region, Sedalia/Pettis County is showing the strongest Taxable Sales Revenue for 2015. Total revenue is $630,213,131. The County coming nearest to Sedalia/Pettis County with total revenue is Warrensburg/Johnson County at $459,153,976.
The third highest is Henry County at $253,161,196. The fourth highest is Saline County at $229,363,887. These figures are provided by the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center (MERIC).
At the same time, Sedalia/Pettis County is showing an unemployment rate of 4.3%. This is the lowest rate in many years. The highest unemployment rate in the 13 County region is St. Clair County at 5.7%. The lowest is Chariton County at 3.9%.
These economic taxable sales figures continue to show that Sedalia/Pettis County is a regional shopping and jobs center for our multi-county area. Separate State of Missouri studies point out that Sedalia/Pettis County has very little retail leakage to other counties and is a jobs center for a multi-county region. It has held this position for several years.
