The Sedalia Park Board met in its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Thursday night (Sept. 5). One of the items brought to the floor and approved by the board gives Sedalia Parks and Recreations Director Mark Hewett the authority to seek bids for a construction manager and architect for Sedalia's new community center project.

Hewett says this is the next step in the process after acquiring the property for the center. Hewett also said they hope to have a plan by January to present the idea of placing the proposal of a tax to fund the project on the ballot for the April 2014 election.  The tax proposal will be presented to Sedalia citizens in public meetings.

Listen to our interview with Hewett below.
