The Sedalia City Council approved the purchase of two new vehicles for the Sedalia Police Department Monday night.

A bid from Rick Ball Ford of Sedalia for two 2016 Ford Interceptor SUVs for $28,370 each was approved by Council for a total of $56,740.

One of the SUVs will replace a department vehicle that was totaled in 2015. The City was reimbursed for that loss by the other driver's insurance company.

The Council also approved a change order for the North Basin Relief Sewer Project, involving a decrease of $37,733.98, bringing the total contract price down to $4,729,839.05.

The Council unanimously accepted the recommendation of the Citizen's Traffic Advisory Committee to install a stop sign at the intersection of Hobby Lobby Drive and Leroy VanDyke Ave.

Also, the Council approved a temporary service agreement between the City and Waste Corporation of Missouri for the processing of recyclable materials.

A city ordinance was amended relating tor design criteria and standards for stormwater management.

Also, a portion of the Parks and Storm Water sales tax revenue was transferred to storm water management projects in the water pollution control fund.

The Council also amended the fiscal budget for 2016-17 regarding asset disposals.

One new liquor license was issued. Matt Moulton of the Sedalia Lions club was approved for a picnic license.

Three renewals were issued, including Wayne Compton DBA Jiffy Stop Food Marts, LLC, 1722 W. Broadway (Packaged liquor with Sunday Sales) $450; Jeremy Klein DBA The Korner Lounge, 1604 S. Ohio, (Liquor by the drink) $450; and KDB Hospitality Group, LLC, Hotel State Fair, 3402 W. Broadway, (Packaged liquor) $150.

And finally, it was announced that Full Moon Band will perform classic rock music at the Fourth of July event at Centennial Park, which will be hosted by organizer Terry Cockrell. The band is expected to start playing at 11 a.m. The event in the park follows a downtown parade at 10 a.m.

The 20-minute City Council meeting was followed by a tour of the Sedalia Animal Shelter.
