This Memorial Day weekend, you can remember our military with the the Salute to Veterans Celebration Airshow at Columbia Regional Airport on May 24-25, 2014 from 9:30am to 3:30pm.

This year, the Salute to Veterans Celebration will honor the 100th Anniversary of World War 1. The show will feature several demonstration teams, including the Canadian Forces National Demonstration Team, The Snowbirds. In addition there will be several demonstrations from  the United States Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, Trojan Phylyers Aerobatic Demonstration Team in T-28 Aircraft, World War 2 BT 13 Vultee Valiant "Viberator" Aerobatic Demonstration, World War 2 T-6 Texan "Radial Velocity" Reno Racer Demonstration, World War 2 TBM Avenger, World War 2 PV-2 Harpoon, Kansas City Dawn Patrol and plenty of static displays.

The admission and parking is free. However, you are urged to take the buses that are provided at the Hearnes Center in Columbia and the Jefferson City Airport. The bus rides are $5 per person round trip and are handicap accessible. You may bring collapsible strollers, but no coolers, picnic baskets or alcohol.

In addition to the airshow, be sure to be there on Memorial Day (May 26) for the annual Salute to Veterans Parade at 10am in downtown Columbia. The parade will start with the Golden Knights parachuting into the parade.
