The Sacred Heart Gremlins pursuit to return to the State Championships fell short at the hands of the Mid-Buchanan Dragons in Lee's Summit Saturday afternoon, by a score of 61-49.

The two teams started sluggish in the first quarter, with the Dragons leading the Gremlins 8-6 at the end of the first quarter.

The Dragons had a five point lead with .9 seconds left heading into the half, when they managed to get one more bucket in at that time. The Dragons led 23-16 heading into the break.

The defense of the Gremlins started to cause turnovers and hurried shots by the Dragons and Coach Steve Goodwin's game plan for the quarter got the Gremlins within 37-33 heading into the fourth quarter.

Both teams fired the score up in the fourth and final quarter and the Dragons won by a score of 61-49.

The loss dropped the Sacred Heart record to 25-4 on the season and the Senior class only lost eleven games combined for their four years with Sacred Heart.
