The Folly is looking forward to a great show. Blessed with a luminous alto voice and the ability to deliver both heart wrenching ballads and up tempo jams with equal authority, Rosanne Cash has become one of the most creative and compelling artists around.

Her debut album, Right or Wrong was released in 1980 followed in '81 by Seven Year Ache, the title track of which topped the Country Charts, two others made it to the top 10.

In 1990 she returned with Interiors, which showcased the song writing talents she shared with her father, and established her as a major artist no longer limited to a single musical genre. 2009 brought The List, her universally acclaimed album drawn from a list of essential country tunes that her legendary father, Johnny, gave her in 1973, and filtered through her own unique sophisticated perspective . It has been eight years since Cash’s last album of original material.

With her new release, The River & The Thread she has created a beautiful and haunting album, one of the finest works in an extraordinary career. In some obvious ways it is an alternative to the semi confessional songs that made Cash famous. But it is also something else, a kind of testament to her present. Cash, who has charted 21 Top 40 country singles, including 11 Number Ones, wrote all of the new album’s songs with her longtime collaborator (and husband) John Leventhal, who also served as producer, arranger, and guitarist. Featuring a long list of guests—from young guns like John Paul White (The Civil Wars) and Derek Trucks to such legends as John Prine and Tony Joe White—The River and the Thread is a kaleidoscopic examination of the geographic, emotional, and historic landscape of the American South. The album’s unique sound, which draws from country, blues, gospel, and rock, reflects the soulful mix of music that traces its history to the region.

Joining Rosanne onstage will be her husband, John Leventhal.
