This weekend, my hometown Detroit Tigers were in Kansas City to play the Royals, so Doug and I headed to the game for my first time ever visit to Kauffman Stadium. I have to say, it's one of the nicest venues I've ever been in.

However, I do have to say I'm a little disappointed in the Royals fan support. Earlier in the week, I'd asked Doug if he wanted me to buy the tickets, or if he wanted me to get them. He told me we could just buy them at the gate on game day. That was a huge shock to me, because in Detroit there is no way you're going to be able to buy tickets at the gate on a Friday night.

Anyway, the game was great. I love the stadium. I know not everyone is a fan of the gigantic crown shaped big screen or whatever you call it, but I think it's awesome. The famous fountain is beautiful, and it's just an overall clean, good looking stadium. It's hard to believe it's 40 years old. The Royals Hall of Fame is extremely nice as well, tons of cool stuff in there and a lot to learn. I was very impressed with that, since we don't have something like that in Detroit.

Best part of the night was the fact that it was Dollar Night, which I guess takes place once every month. $1 hot dogs, peanuts, and soda pops. The drinks were tiny little cups with about two sips in them, but the hot dogs were phenomenal, and I ate four. Nothing's more American than getting a hot dog at a baseball game!

I had a blast, and have fallen completely in love with Kauffman Stadium. I plan on going to a lot of games next year, and while this time I cheered for my hometown Tigers, that stadium makes it really easy to be a Royals fan.
